Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will hypnosis work on me?
    Since hypnosis is a natural state of mind everyone has the ability to go into, it actually happens at various times throughout a typical day without you even realising. Have you ever driven home and not remembered anything about the journey, or been engrossed in a book and not been conscious of time passing? If so, you’ve been in a state of focused attention, not unlike the feeling of being hypnotised.
  • Is it safe?
    Hypnosis is completely safe; you are in complete control at all times and can stop the trance state at any time. The hypnotherapist never has control over you, you always have freewill. Hypnosis is simply a state of focused attention. In this relaxed state, your mind is more responsive to suggestion.
  • Can everyone be hypnotised?
    How people respond to trance can vary. However, to have a successful therapeutic experience, a light trance is sufficient.
  • What can hypnotherapy be used to treat?
    Hypnosis can be used to help treat a wide range of conditions: • Anxiety and stress • Insomnia • Lack of confidence • Phobias • IBS • OCD • Depression • Exam nerves • Improving performance • Weight Control • Stopping smoking Any condition that is exacerbated by stress can be helped using hypnotherapy. This isnt an exhaustive list so please ask and I may be able to help.
  • What can I expect from the initial consultation?
    During the initial consultation, I will take some details and answer any questions you might have. We will explore how hypnosis can help you accomplish what you want to achieve. How the brain can produce unwanted reactions and symptoms in our bodies. Also, what you can expect from your future Solution Focussed Hypnotherapy sessions. I will then send you my audio track to listen to every night before sleep. This is an important part of whole process and you will see a difference.
  • What can I expect from subsequent sessions?
    The first part of each session involves talking therapy where we focus on what you would like to achieve and on getting your mind into a positive state. Then I guide you into a relaxed and restful state of hypnosis so that you can consolidate what we have discussed, allowing your subconscious mind to come up with the solutions that are just right for you.
  • Will I have to revisit painful memories from my past?
    The type of therapy that I practise does not require you to revisit or relive anything from your past. In fact, solution focussed hypnotherapy is more concerned with the present and your near future, concentrating on how you want things to be and how you can make those steps towards a happier you.
  • How are the sessions conducted?
    All the sessions will be conducted on-line using the easiest form of video-call platform for you- Zoom, Skype, FaceTime etc.
  • How long will it take?
    Here at Mind's Eye Hypnotherapy we work quite quickly with issues usually taking between 8 to 12 sessions to resolve. The number of sessions needed will vary on the individual and each particular issue. Smoking, for example, is dealt with within one extensive session. Phobia cessation can be achieved in 4 sessions but may take more depending on circumstances. General hypnotherapy sessions last between 50-60 minutes. The first part of the session uses CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programme) techniques to help you focus on solutions that will help you and prepares you for the second half of the session which is when I will take you through the hypnosis process.
  • What will it cost?
    • The Initial Consultation- approx 60 minutes is £50 During which I will take some details, discuss what has been troubling you and what you would like to achieve with the therapy. I will explain how unfortunately, our minds can cause us to suffer unnecessarily and how solution focused hypnotherapy can help you make the changes you want to make. We can discuss any questions you might have and at the end of the consultation I will send an mp3 download of one of my hypnosis tracks for you to use at home. • Subsequent sessions are £50. A typical hypnotherapy session lasts an hour and consists of 25-30 minutes of talking, psychotherapeutic techniques, where we focus on the positive solutions that will help you take the manageable steps towards feeling better. Followed by 25-30 minutes of relaxing trance which helps strengthen the mind/body connection and helps the subconscious mind make those important changes. I will also go through some tips and techniques that you can use to help your problems after the therapy ends. Sessions can be bought in blocks 4 sessions £190 or 6 sessions £275 • Smoking cessation is an intensive, one off session of up to 2 hours - £140 • Individual relaxation session- approx 35-40 minutes - £30 * OFFER* Referral Scheme - Recommend a friend and recieve a half price session for both you and your friend. Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, store and process your personal information and is regularly reviewed to ensure it complies with the latest data protection law, including the new GDPR regulations introduced from the 25th May 2018.
  • Can you wave a magic wand to fix my problems?
    Unfortunately we only have imaginary magic wands. Hypnotherapy is a collaborative process between therapist and client, together we build a supportive therapeutic alliance. Ultimately, change happens because you want it to and you are prepared to take the necessary steps to make it to happen. I will work with you every step of the way to help you to decide on and achieve those changes. Essentially though, hypnotherapy helps you to discover your own magic within you.
